Album Info:
Boy, what an amazing journey this band has had. Originating in San Diego, this band has made an impact on the heavy metal industry. Instead of a verse, chorus, verse style of song writing, they approach it as every song being like a tree, and every section of the song being a branch. Not many bands can do this and get away with it, but this one can, and they do a great job doing it. It keeps the listener interested, and really gives the music wholeness. In this album, you get the reissued E.P. album and the, A Beneath the Encasing of Ashes album on one disc. It’s amazing to hear their original work, and to hear their latest work, and to see how while they’ve evolved a great deal with their music, they still retain their original style.
What really caught my attention with this band, was how they pieced the music together. Its really cool, how the song can have so many parts to it, that all work together and give a nice overall mood. Talent, they’ve got it. Originality, they=ve got that too. As a bonus, the booklet that comes with the album has the story of how the band first started, and more.
The only complaint or flaw to the album is that at times, the screaming could have been substituted with a more settle, yelling, without the gruntness. Now, I’m gonna have to buckle down on this one, and give the album a 3.5 star rating. Not because the album sucks or isn’t worth buying, trust me, if you really like As I Lay Dying, you’ll love this album. But if you are new to this band, and want to hear some of their stuff, Id suggest you purchase the, A Shadows Are Security first.
